Sidney spent a very chilly, long weekend outside the village of Stod in the Czech Republic where the food was awful, the beer good and the brandy very good. The coldest of the weather was exacerbated by his having forgotten it was winter when he packed. The purpose of his visit was nevertheless achieved viz demonstrating the penetrating power of the Gatecrasher and the lifting power of the Bootbanger and the other diverse powers of other diverse devices for the edification of the german public to whom his efforts were shortly to be shown by Galileo.
