Improvised explosive devices are the tools of the terrorist, the criminal and the amateur experimenter and include letter bombs, suicide bombs, car bombs and vehicle borne IEDs (VBIEDs). Alford Technologies is at the forefront of bomb disposal technology and has developed an extensive family of IEDD equipment, used daily throughout the world.
Alfords' range of C-IED Tools includes explosive water projecting disruptors specifically for use against IEDs, the smallest of which is the DemiMod, the MiniMod, MajorMod, Q-Mod, Boot Banger and the MLVD. We also produce the Van Trepan, which is used for gaining entry into vehicles, the WindowBreaker, a low NEQ charge to break car windows without shaking vehicles, and the Bottler, which is a family of powerful omni-directional disruptors of different sizes.
The main use of the Vulcan, a small, user filled, plastic shaped charge, is for conventional munitions disposal, but it may also be used to knock the ends off pipe bombs, or to “surgically” target specific components of an IED suspected of containing chemical/biological elements without releasing the agent.
