Modular Large Vehicle Disruptor (MLVD)™ Mk2
MLVD™ is a modular, user-filled water disruptor for defeating large vehicle-borne IEDs (LVBIEDs), typically sited in a vehicle's load-carrying area. Using patented technology, each module projects a high-pressure horizontal water jet powerful enough to penetrate the vehicle's side, sever the firing chain, and eject the device's contents through the opposite side, without initiating the device. The entire cargo area typically opens explosively, separating IED components and giving operators an unobstructed view of the contents. Covered in our EOD, IEDD & Maritime EOD training.
Penetrates, severs, and expels without detonation. Water jets disrupt the firing chain and drive contents through the far side of the vehicle; the cargo area opens explosively to expose separated components
Scalable load across one to three modules. One module: 145g to 720g NEQ; two: 290g to 1.44kg; three: 435g to 2.16kg. Adjust to the target, not the other way around
ROV-deployable. The MLVD Deployment Stand is pushed to the target and positioned by ROV in a single movement, allowing the vehicle to be recovered before firing
Door and wall breaching as a secondary capability, using detonating cord or sheet explosive
Used worldwide by military and law enforcement IEDD teams against LVBIEDs
Explosive Load and Performance
Depending on the desired explosive effect, you can load MLVD™ with detonating cord or sheet explosive. As well as being an LVBIED disruption tool, the charges can be used to breach doors and walls.
As an LVBIED defeat tool, when actuated, MLVD™ projects water jets horizontally with enough force to penetrate the side of the vehicle, disrupt the device, and then eject it through the opposite side. The entire compartment usually explosively opens, providing a clear view of the vehicle cargo area and separated IED components without initiating the device.
Deployment to Target
MLVD™ can be deployed to the target using the MLVD™ Deployment Stand. A remotely operated vehicle (ROV) can push the stand to the target and position it in one movement. Operators can then remove the ROV to a safe location before firing to preserve it for further use.
